Sean Finn lets out a chuckle when he is asked about his formative days working in a local chipper.

The athletic Limerick defender doesn’t look to have a pick of fat on his body, but in his younger days was surrounded by fast food.

“I worked in a chipper in Bruff for six years — Glynn’s — and worked there for a few hours before the All-Ireland final in 2018, on the Friday night,” says Finn.

“It was my routine, just working away and making a few quid while I was going to college.

“The guys there were great to me, we always had great craic behind the counter, and we had a good few young lads working there.

“A great place to have a takeaway so, when you’re passing Bruff, stop in!”

“At the time, I was a couple of years younger, I got away with eating the food quite regularly,” he laughs.

“But I don’t know if I would get away with consuming as much food as then nowadays.”

The Glynn’s often put posters up in the shop to support their well-known employee.

“Yeah, they’re fantastic supporters,” says Finn. “My brother, who players with Limerick underage, works there as well… they’re great supporters of Limerick and locally.”

Finn also spent time working in a bar owned by one of Limerick’s well-known defenders from yesteryear, Dave Clarke.

“I was there for a number of years, and had a great time,” says the multiple All Star.

“I also spent plenty of time on the other side of the bar! Ah he’s a great guy, was good to me, and continues to be.

“I was young lad then, and Dave was funnily enough involved with Limerick underage back then in 2016 when I did my cruciate.

“I was only involved for a couple of weeks before I got released from the panel.

“He’s a huge passionate hurling man, and proud of what I and us as a group have done over the past couple of years considering he would know quite a lot of us from his time in 2015 and 2016. Yeah, some good days there.

“I was maybe playing minor hurling and 20s when I was there, when I was in college and making some pocket money,” he adds. “He was well able to work me hard!”
