Con O’Callaghan v Sam Callinan
In the full-back line, Callinan looks like a man at ease in his surroundings.
Even though he only made his championship debut a month ago, manager Kevin McStay said that he has no worries about the 20-year-old from Ballina Stephenites producing the goods.
Many will believe that coming up against one of the greatest players that the game has ever produced in Con O’Callaghan might be a step too far.
But Callinan has already moved from his comfortable number four position to centre-half back earlier this year to pick up Seán O’Shea.
Tasked with the second biggest marking job that day, the young UCD student played a stormer by keeping O’Shea scoreless from play.
The issue with Dublin is, we don’t exactly know where they’re at in this moment in time.
In their last match they waltzed through Sligo, with O’Callaghan producing a stellar performance at full-forward.
By the 55th minute his job was done and he was happily withdrawn to save his energy for the next day out.
But are they at the level they hoped they would be at?
This match-up will be a key factor in the Rest v Momentum debate.
It’s going to be a huge job for Callinan to keep O’Callaghan at arm’s length, but not an impossible one.
