We look ahead to the opening weekend of the All-Ireland senior football champions group series, and see how the teams are shaping up

SLIGO v KILDARE (GROUP 3)
They meet for only the third time in the championship, with Sligo having won the previous two by a point.

They won by 0-16 to 0-15 in an All-Ireland qualifier in Croke Park in 2001 and by 1-11 to 1-10 in a qualifier in Markievicz Park in 2005.

*Kildare (fifth Division 2) finished twelve places ahead of Sligo (first Division 4) in this year’s Allianz League.

*Sligo are the only team who were in Division 4 this year to make it to the Sam Maguire Cup last sixteen stages.
