Galway and Portumna star Joe Canning was asked about the abundance of scoring in this year’s league, and whether people should simply just appreciate the skill involved.
Galway star Joe Canning wonders if the impact of Covid has put people into a negative mindset when watching hurling.
The ancient game returned to action in previous weeks after being suspended for a number of months due to Ireland’s lockdown restrictions during the pandemic.
There has been some incredibly high scoring in the five rounds of the hurling league, but Canning insists that “it is not easy to score from distance”.
He also adds that he’d “be worried if everyone could do it”, and suggests that “maybe it’s Covid, and people are more negative” about things.
