Portumna star Joe Canning was sent off with ten minutes to go as Sarsfields won their Galway SHC clash by 16 points.
Joe Canning was shown the line in controversial circumstances today as Portumna were soundly beaten by Sarsfields.
The 2017 Hurler of the Year was visibly upset with the decision and briefly remonstrated with the officials.
The latter won by 4-22 to 0-18 in Group 3 at Kenny Park, though there were just three points between the sides when Canning was sent off.

His nephew Jack Canning was also dismissed, allowing Sars to capitalise on their two-man advantage to win the remainder by 3-6 to 0-2.
Joseph Cooney’s lovely pick-up and finished was a crucial blow to Portumna, and will have sent a signal of intent to county manager Shane O’Neill.
