Conor Breslin does player ratings for the All-Ireland group stage clash between Donegal and Monaghan at Healy Park.
Donegal
Shaun Patton
Changed his usual approach of staying in the net by joining the attack. Excellent with the kick-outs and looked very comfortable on the ball. Fifty metre free on the 72nd minute restored Donegalโs three-point lead. 8/10
Mark Curran
A great debut season for the Dungloe man. Very eager to get on the ball and created options going forward. 7/10
Brendan McCole
One of best performances heโs produced in a long time. He held Jack McCarron for the majority of the game before picking up Conor McManus. Man of the Match. 9/10
Caolan McColgan
A solid display from McColgan, who also got forward on a few occasions to put Donegal on the front foot. 6/10
Caolan Ward
Got on a lot of possession, especially in the first half, but was guilty of a few handling errors and poor passes. 6/10
Eoghan Ban Gallagher
The heart of the Donegal defence. Kept his performance consistent for the full 70 minutes with superb tackles and landed a point in the first half. 8/10
Stephen McMenamin
One of his quieter games in terms of getting on the ball. Played the majority of the game as a stationary defender and Monaghan got very little joy when they tried to run past him. 7/10
Caolan McGonagle
Was a strong presence throughout. Hit a great point from midfield and won plenty of breaking ball. 7/10
Hugh McFadden
Captain for the afternoon, the Killybegs man was vital as the link on the attacking play. His clearance inside the box deep into injury-time was crucial to his sideโs victory. 7/10
Daire OโBaoill
One can only imagine the scoring tally OโBaoill could have had. He ended with 0-3 but was involved in four or five other chances. Was a real thorn in the Monaghan defence. 7/10
Jamie Brennan
Scored his first championship point of the season today. Gave his side breathing room by winning and nailing a late free. 8/10
Ciaran Thompson
Scored 0-3 and was one of the best players of the pitch. The Naomh Conaill man was a threat. 7/10
Odhran Doherty
A late call-up for the young Naomh Conaill man. He worked very hard and made invaluable runs back to assist in his sideโs defending. Will be happy with his outing. 7/10
Oisin Gallen
Another top performance from the Ballybofey man. Dangerous up top. Was eventually replaced by Patrick McBrearty. 7/10
Conor OโDonnell
Opened the match with a superb point. Has pace and intelligence caused Monaghanโs defence serious problems. The Farney men struggled to get to grips with him. 7/10
Subs: Patrick McBrearty, John Ross Molloy, Rory OโDonnell, Paul Brennan. 7/10
