Monaghan
Rory Beggan
Was caught off his line on two occasions when joining the Monaghan attack and was lucky not to concede any goals. Wasn’t as effective as he usually is despite his accurate kicks. 6/10
Ryan O’Toole
Was caught on a number of occasions when Conor O’Donnell eased past him one-on-one down his right side. Not one of his better days. 6/10
Kieran Duffy
Was very solid in the first half keeping Oisín Gallen at bay. That was until the Ballybofey youngster sprung to life nailing five points. 6/10
Ryan Wylie
Looked some way short of his best form. Followed Doherty for the day but couldn’t get his colleagues in the backline organised when Donegal were on top. 6/10
Conor Boyle
Worked extremely hard in the backline. It could’ve been a long day for him marking Daire O’Baoill but was able to regain confidence and score two important points. 6/10
Conor McCarthy
Worked hard around the midfield area but found it hard to make any real impression. Donegal were too strong in this sector. 6/10
Karl Gallagher
Seemed to be caught in two minds too often and ended up having no real impact on the game unfortunately. 5/10
Killian Lavelle
Another player who found it hard to stop Donegal’s attacks. Needs to improve the midfield for his side’s away tie next week. 5/10
Stephen O’Hanlon
Perhaps Monaghan’s top star on the day. Never gave up when the chips were down. Scored a fine point in the second half. 7/10
Michael Bannigan
One who had the pace to really trouble Donegal today. Scored a second-half point, but it was his runs in the first half that caught the eye. 7/10
Ryan McAnespie
Monaghan really needed a big game from in the forwards from McAnespie, especially when Conor McManus was missing. Tried hard and scored a point to ease his team back into the match. 6/10
Jack McCarron
One of Monaghan’s most dangerous attackers was kept relatively quite by Man of the Match McCole and didn’t score from play until the 59th minute. 6/10
Gary Mohan
In only his second season with the Farney men, Mohan’s work-rate was highlighted in the opening 10 minutes when he landed two points to keep Donegal at bay. 6/10
Darren Hughes
A late call up to the starting 15, the Scotstown man had a solid battle with Mark Curran throughout and contributed on the scoreboard with two points. 6/10
Subs: Kieran Hughes, Conor McManus, Dessie Ward, Colm Lennon, Shane Carey. 5/10
