EAGERLY AWAITED NEW CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT LIFTS OFF THIS WEEKEND
A historic weekend beckons for the GAA Football All-Ireland championship, with games in all four groups of the new-look format to decide who reaches the quarter-finals.

The action stretches from Killarney to Ennis to Galway to Sligo and features Kerry (current All-Ireland and Munster champions) and Galway (last year’s All-Ireland runners-up and this year’s Connacht champions), Sligo and Clare (Connacht and Munster runners up), Mayo (current Allianz League Division 1 champions), Tyrone (2021 All-Ireland champions), Kildare (beaten in this year’s Leinster semi-final) and Donegal (beaten Ulster quarter-finalists).

Meanwhile, the Tailteann Cup continues with eight second round games.

SATURDAY: Clare v Donegal, Ennis, 2.00PM; Kerry v Mayo, Fitzgerald Stadium, 3.00PM; Galway v Tyrone, Pearse Stadium, 5.15PM
SUNDAY: Sligo v Kildare, Markievicz Park, 2.30PM
