Shane Walsh v Padraig OโHora
With five points already to his name, Walsh stood up to take a Galway free to level the match against Armagh last weekend.
However, on this occasion it wasn’t to be for the Kilmacud Crokes forward, as his shot just sailed wide.
With Galway falling to second place in their group, they now face Mayo in Salthill โ an occasion in that Walsh will see as an opportunity to right some wrongs.
“It’s a chance to redeem myself firstly, and I know the lads will be on the same boat, everyone will just row in to get the result next weekend,โ said Walsh.
“We planned for every eventuality, that’s part of the management, that’s what they’ve been good at doing all the way along, no matter what way anything was going to fall.โ
Walsh and OโHora are no strangers to each other.
In fact, less than two years ago during the Connacht final, Galway boss Pรกdraic Joyce was furious with an off-the-ball challenge by OโHora that left Shane Walsh requiring an injection to his shoulder at half-time.
Walsh was superb that day and hit 1-1, plus an assist for Damien Comerโs goal, when he was slammed to the ground by OโHora in an incident that went unpunished.
Both players were involved in an entanglement when OโHora forcibly brought the Galway star to the ground, and he required medical attention for several minutes on the field.
Walsh came out a year later to criticise the OโHora incident saying: “No one was coached how to play football that way.โ
With no love lost between these two giants of the game, this adds further to the mouth-watering affair we have in store this Sunday.
