Tipperary player ratings
Rhys Shelly
The Moycarkey-Borris man was drafted in for his championship debut and scored a nice long-range point. Safe throughout. 7.5/10
Ronan Maher
Maher was Tipp’s sweeper in front of the defence, got on plenty of ball and generally used it wisely. 7/10
Michael Breen
Breen’s performance at full-back today was a further reminder of how ludicrous it is that he hasn’t been playing in this position since 2015. Conceded a few scores to Aaron Gillane but did very well. 7.5/10
Cathal Barrett
The Holycross-Ballycahill defender won his battle with Seamus Flanagan in another combative display. Taken off late on after taking a bang to the head. 8/10
Eoghan Connolly
Another debutant who did himself huge credit. Presented with a tall order in being asked to mark Tom Morrissey and, while the latter was excellent, Connolly did well. 7/10
Bryan O’Mara
Growing into this team all the time. O’Mara won his duel with Cian Lynch and looks far more mature than a man in his first championship season. 7.5/10
Seamus Kennedy
Given the role of tagging Cathal O’Neill and had some tough moments. 6.5/10
Dan McCormack
Brilliant in defence in how he tied down Gearoid Hegarty. 9/10
Alan Tynan
Given the task of babysitting Kyle Hayes and hunting ball in the middle area. After an exceptional display against Cork, the Roscrea man was quieter in Thurles. 6/10
Noel McGrath
Another member of the half-forward line who found it difficult to get into a flow. Worked hard and flicked a lovely stickpass over the top for a Conor Bowe point late on. 6/10
Gearóid O’Connor
Hit his frees and battled hard. Caught one brilliant ball to set up a point for Mark Kehoe and knocked one over from play himself.
Conor Stakelum
Strangely fumbled a number of balls but worked hard. 6.5/10
Patrick Maher
A surprise inclusion in the starting XV but gave Barry Nash plenty of problems. 7/10
Jake Morris
Scintillating stuff from the Nenagh man who clipped five from play. 8.5/10
Mark Kehoe
Quietly excellent throughout, and being left on for the entire 70 minutes will be big for his confidence. 7.5/10
Subs
Séamus Callanan
Scored a nice point late on and worked very hard. 6/10
Conor Bowe
The Moyne-Templetuohy man came off the bench to hit 0-3. After being subbed on and back off in Cork, this will be a big shot in the arm for Bowe. 8/10
Brian McGrath (Loughmore-Castleiney) for Barrett (60)
Replaced Barrett after an hour and did his bit. 7/10
Johnny Ryan, Seán Ryan, and John McGrath all on too late to be rated.

Great game in Thurles but that should have been a red card tackle on Sheamus Flanagan not a yellow one for the health and safety off the players he could have broken he’s neck with that tackle it wasn’t addressed on the Sunday game a lot happened in front off the Referee and he ignored it it’s a disgrace
