OurGame takes a gaze into the crystal ball to predict the results of the biggest GAA games this weekend.
Saturday May 27
ALL-IRELAND SFC ROUND 1
Louth v Cork, Pairc Tailteann, 3.0
A huge game for both sides in terms of qualification down the road. Louth won the corresponding League game by a goal in March but Brian Hurley’s return tips the balance slightly in Cork’s favour.
Verdict: Cork by one
Armagh v Westmeath, Box-It Athletic Grounds, 4.45 – GAAGO
Armagh are challenged with bouncing back from Ulster final heartbreak but they can do so on home soil with Rian O’Neill set to hurt last year’s Tailteann Cup winners.
Verdict: Armagh by seven
Derry v Monaghan, Celtic Park, 7.0 – GAAGO
A repeat of their Ulster clash which Derry won convincingly, 1-21 to 2-10, four weeks ago. This should be tighter with the Farney having a point to prove but Ciaran Meenagh’s men still look a cut above.
Verdict: Derry by three
JOE MCDONAGH CUP FINAL
Carlow v Offaly, Croke Park, 4.45 – RTร2
Carlow beat a second-string Offaly by 18 points when they met two weeks ago but this will be a totally different kettle of fish. It should be tight down the stretch but Eoghan Cahill may just tip the balance for the Faithful.
Verdict: Offaly by three
