There’s a hectic weekend ahead in the football All-Ireland championship and the Tailteann Cup, with no fewer than 16 games on the schedule

There’s a hectic weekend ahead in the GAA Football All-Ireland championship and the Tailteann Cup, with no fewer than sixteen games on the schedule across the two competitions.

It’s Round 2 in the All-Ireland championship groups and Round 3 in the Tailteann Cup.

The top teams in the four Tailteann Cup groups will advance to the quarterfinals while second and third will qualify for the preliminary quarterfinals.

ALL-IRELAND CHAMPIONSHIP
SATURDAY

  • Group 1: Cork v Kerry, Pairc Ui Chaoimh, 3.00pm
  • Group 2: Westmeath v Galway, TEG Cusack Park, 5.0; Tyrone v Armagh, Omagh,
    7.00pm
  • Group 3: Kildare v Dublin, UPMC Nowlan Park, 5.00pm

SUNDAY

  • Group 1: Mayo v Louth, Hastings Insurance MacHale Park, 2.00pm
  • Group 3: Roscommon v Sligo, Dr. Hyde Park, 3.00pm
  • Group 4: Monaghan v Clare, Clones, 2.00pm; Donegal v Derry, Ballybofey, 4.00pm

TAILTEANN CUP
SATURDAY

  • Group 1: Cavan v Offaly, Glennon Brothers Pearse Park, 3.00pm; Laois v London,
    Parnell Park, 3.00pm.
  • Group 2: Meath v Down, Parnell Park, 1.00pm; Tipperary v Waterford, Pairc Ui
    Chaoimh, 1.00pm.

Cavan lead the way on four points, with Offaly on three, Laois on one, London on none.

Cavan and Offaly are guaranteed a place in the knock-out stages and will be joined by the winners of Laois v London.

Down and Meath are on four points after two rounds while Tipperary and Waterford have yet to pick up a point.

  • Group 4: Fermanagh v Antrim, BOX-IT Athletic Grounds, 3.00pm; Wexford v
    Leitrim
    , Parnell Park, 3.00pm.

Limerick top the group on four points; Longford and Carlow are on two points each while Wicklow have yet to pick up a point.

Antrim have four points; Fermanagh are on three points, Wexford on one, while Leitrim are yet to pick up a point.
