Diarmuid Ryan scored the winning point in a thrilling finale with Cork on Sunday, with the Banner now guaranteed a place in the Munster final.

“Their ability to maintain the pace over 70 minutes, their fitness levels, their hurling has really improved, they have a game plan,” says O’Connor.

“Tony Kelly is still their marquee man and has the ability to win a game on his own.

“Brian Lohan is keeping the players guessing, even though he’s getting a lot out of them,” adds O’Connor, who spoke about the impacts of Ian Galvin, Shane Meehan and Mark Rodgers.

The lads also talked about the decision to appoint Limerick native Johnny Murphy as referee for the Cork v Clare game, when the result had such importance to the whistler’s native county.
