3 hurling player match-ups to savour this weekend

Shane Stapleton looks ahead to Dublin v Clare and Galway v Tipperary to identify some of the big match-ups in hurling this weekend

Jason Forde v Daithi Burke
With Seamus Callanan named at 14 and Mark Kehoe usually close to goal, it seems likely that Forde will operate at centre-forward and hope to pick off points from distance.

Gearoid McInerney will fancy his chances against 34-year-old Callanan rather than a young bull, while 30-year-old Daithi Burke will be looking to shut down the Silvermines man.

Burke is one of the best full-backs in modern times but Henry Shefflin obviously feels his energy is needed in the half-back line, and it will be interesting to see if the number six follows Forde or tries to hold.

Forde is exceptional at drifting into space and picking up ball, and is capable of firing over points from all areas when moving at top speed.

Cathal Mannion has been named at number nine and may well drop into the half-back line once again, allowing Burke to tag Forde every step of the way.
