3 hurling player match-ups to savour this weekend

Shane Stapleton looks ahead to Dublin v Clare and Galway v Tipperary to identify some of the big match-ups in hurling this weekend

David McInerney v Danny Sutcliffe
Sutcliffe has been like a man reborn since midway through this season.

The St Jude’s man’s quality has never been in doubt but the 31-year-old has blown somewhat hot and cold in recent seasons.

With 1-10 in this year’s championship and some excellent performances to date, the half-forward will very much be on the radar of Brian Lohan.

David McInerney and Sutcliffe tend to operate on the same wing but Diarmuid Ryan may yet end up with this job, but either way it is a key one.

The Clare half-backs are brilliant ball winners on the floor and in the air, love to have a pop at goal, and certainly are excellent athletes.
